The Online Poker Weekend – “benislovas” Takes Down Anniversary Sunday Million

This weekend was a special one for
PokerStars and for
online poker tournament players everywhere, who were treated to a special anniversary edition of the Sunday Million, the event which marked its 7th birthday. As usual, the high-profile anniversary was marked through the offering of massive added money: the Sunday Million’s guarantee was taken to out-of-this-world heights: $7 million. Needless to say, the extra money drew quite a few extra players to the tables: a total of 49,287 players coughed up the $215 buy-in, creating a prize-pool of $9,875,400, putting even the above said fabulous guarantee to shame. With that much money in the middle, the winner was guaranteed a $1.2 million+ payday, but alas, no one took home $1 million due to a 3-way deal at the top, which divided the remaining prize-pool almost equally among the top 3 finishers.
It took the giant field about 15 hours to play down to a winner, but for those who made the top ranks, that time was certainly well-invested. Two notables made the final table of the tournament: Dave Gent and Andrey Lidgey. While Lidgey faded away in 7th place, picking up a $117.3k prize, Gent made it all the way to the heads-up stage of the action.
The three-way deal which bit seriously into the winner’s share of the prize-pool spelled it out that everyone would take down at least $700k. The eventual winner would pick up an additional $140k.
A player from Lithuania, known as “benislovas” was the one who emerged with the win, collecting $848.5k for his efforts. “benislovas” bested Gent heads-up. Gent took home $836.3k. Third place finisher Kasra84 was rewarded with $813.3k.
Interestingly, but quite expectedly, every single player in the top 7 finished within 6-figures.
