The weekend saw quite a bit of
online poker tournament action go into the books. The highlight of the weekend was yet again the Sunday Million, which – yet again – gave birth to the biggest tournament winner of the weekend. The event which aroused the most interest however was the
PokerStars Red Spade Open, which featured a $55 buy-in and guaranteed a prize-pool of $1 million. The winner of this tournament was guaranteed a minimum payday of $200k and there were several PokerStars pros in the event carrying $100 bounties.
28,713 players coughed up the buy-in, creating a prize-pool of $1.43 million, leaving the initial guarantee in the dust. Despite the fact that in theory, the winner was guaranteed more than $200k, none of the top-finishing players managed to secure such a lofty payday. The reason was a deal, which the top 7 players struck and which allowed almost every one of them to finish in 6 figures. The biggest winner was 3rd place finisher thanks_m8, who took down $135.4k. The eventual winner of the event was Nutshuh? who ended up with $87.7k, the second-lowest haul out of the top 7.
The Sunday Million yet again left its own $1 million guarantee in the dust: 7,695 players combined $215 buy-ins for a $1,539,000 prize-pool. There was a deal in this event too, between the top 2 players, and once again, it wasn’t the winner who ended up with the top prize. pasha I986 finished second for $201.4k. The winner, Rozar1o Agro was rewarded with $198.7k. There was one more player who managed to sail into 6 figures: third-place man mac milla, who finished with $115.4k to his name.
Adam Levy was the deepest finishing pro: he ended up 26th, for a $3.3k reward. David Vamplew won the $109 Sunday Rebuy, for $61.4k.
