The Online Poker Weekend – Jeff Hakim Dominates FTOPS

Needless to say, the online poker tournament scene was dominated by the FTOPS over the weekend. 21 events of the Series were already in the books by Sunday night and with 18 more left, it is safe to say the FTOPS has indeed been in full swing over the last few days.
Jeff Hakim emerged as one of the biggest winners thus far, having taken down two FTOPS tournaments. His first win in Full Tilt Poker’s Online Poker Series XXIII came on August 5, when he took down event #3, the $109 PLO Re-buy event, for a $26.8k reward.
His second win came in event #21, the $215 Limit Holdem one, which netted him a $17.7k reward. Although none of the two scores were particularly impressive for the battle-tested pro, they put him well on his way to being proclaimed the best player of the FTOPS XXIII. Besides the two wins racked up over the last week or so, Hakim has another, older FTOPS title to his name too.

PokerStars’ Sunday Million was yet again the event from which the biggest tournament winner of the weekend emerged. Clark Hamagami was the one who took down the big one, striking a 3-way deal at the top and still walking away with $175.7k. A player known as poker@luffyD finished second for a $155.7k haul. The only other 6-figure winner in the event was Nicolas Fierro who finished 3rd for $155.7k.
The event drew a starting field of 7,159 players, who created a $1.43 million prize-pool, clearly putting the $1 million guarantee to shame. Joe Cada was the notable who made the deepest run in the tournament outside the top 3 of course. He finished 34th, for a $2.97k prize.

PokerStars’ Sunday Warm-Up was won by PokerSavage1, who bested Martin Hruby heads-up for the $102.6k top prize.
Sign up to PokerStars and play in their weekend majors: the guarantees are lavish and they’re well surpassed every time.
