Things have pretty much returned to normal over the last weekend as far as the
poker tournament action was concerned. The biggest prize-pool of the weekend was yet again delivered by
PokerStars Sunday Million, which is where the biggest winner of the weekend came from too.
The “name” crowd was out in large numbers as well, prowling for a possibility to finish deep in one of the majors. The most successful pro was Matt Kay, who managed a 3rd place in the Sunday Million, to take down a $121.3k prize.
The event drew a starting field of 7,584 players, who created a prize-pool of $1.51 million. This time around, the Sunday Million bucked a major trend: there weren’t any deals at the top. The winner, a player known as “petesgotaces” took home the entire projected share of the winner: $227.5k. The runner-up was gypsymagi820, who took home $167.4k. Kay was the last 6-figure finisher in the event. Another notable who managed a relatively deep run was Chris Bolt, who picked up $2.6k for his 51st place.
The Sunday Warm-Up managed to smash its guarantee as well: the 3,443 players who bellied up to its tables, combined buy-ins to create a $688.6k prize-pool. This time, there was a 3-way deal at the top, involving the eventual winner, “nurabsal” the runner-up, “hulinada” and the third-place man, “seppmann7”. Probably on account of the deal, there were no 6-figure finishers in the tournament. The winner ended up with $84.6k, while the runner-up took home the biggest prize of the event: $94.2k. Seppmann7 ended up with a $66.6k reward.
The highest finishing notable was Sebastian Skuja, who took home $8.6k for his 8th place. Peter Traply made the top 10 as well.
