The Online Poker Weekend – PartyPoker’s $500k Takes Center Stage

Last weekend was a truly remarkable one in light of the fact that PartyPoker’s $500k Sunday Major (which usually features a guarantee of only 200k) stole all the lime-light. The revamped guarantee of the $500k Special Event saw 3,057 players belly up to the tables, which meant that the upped guarantee – as expected – was handily exceeded. Although according to the initial terms of the tournament, the winner was guaranteed a $100k minimum payday, in the end, no one took home that money. There was a heads-up deal at the top, and that meant that the winner would take home $85.68k, which failed to become the biggest Sunday major prize taken down over the weekend, despite the fact that
PokerStars’ Sunday Million was missing from the lineup. The runner-up took home $83.4k. Ben David was the deepest-finishing pro in the event: he ended up in 9th place, taking home $6.5k for his efforts.

The biggest tournament winner of the weekend came from PokerStars’ Sunday 500. The winner of this event, none other than poker pro Zimnan Ziyard, made no deals on his way to the top. He ended up pocketing the full share of the winner, which tipped the scales at $86.1k.
The player that Ziyard disposed of heads-up was” Fresh_oO_D” who took home $62.2k.
In this event, Cristian Rotondo was the deepest-finishing name pro (he collected $24.6k for his 5th place) but a slew of other professionals made the top 10 as well. Eli Fox finished 7th for $14.7k, Kyle Julius made it to 8th place for $9.8k and Jeff Rossiter finished 9th for $5.6k.
