The Online Poker Weekend – Shorr among Winners

One of
PokerStars’ biggest ever Sunday Millions is in the books, together with a bunch of other Sunday majors, which together created a massive online tournament frenzy this past weekend. With so much action going down, some of the pros managed to sneak in some wins here and there. Shannon Shorr was one of these pros, but Chris Hunichen and David Baker tasted victory too.
The Sunday Million offered a $5 million guarantee, but the 26,925 participants combined buy-ins to take it past the mark, right to $5.38 million. Although the winner should’ve taken home a $500k prize, a 5-way deal at the top spoiled the math, so in the end no one crossed the half million mark.
The winner did end up with the largest prize though: the deal didn’t skew the numbers too much. Sincinati118 was the one who walked away with the goods when it was all said and done: he collected $421.9k for his efforts.
FlasHBa3k finished second for a $261.3k haul. Third place went to dadoferal, who pocketed $230k. bdklizm finished 4th for $229.4k. The last player who took part in the deal was elastobert, who was rewarded with $240k. None of the other players managed to reach 6-figures prize-wise.
The highest-finishing notable in the event was Nick Maimone, who took home a $7k reward for his 28th place.
Shannon Shorr’s victory came in the Sunday 500, which offered a $300k guarantee, but which – like pretty much every online weekend major – handily exceeded that number. The resulting prize-pool was $459k. Shorr made no deals on his way to the top: he defeated Rayan Nathan heads-up to take home the $82.6k top prize.
Chris Hunichen won the $109 Sunday Rebuy, while David Baker’s win came in the Sunday Supersonic.
At
Full Tilt Poker, the $1.5 million FTOPS Main Event was won by “poksu pete” who took home $207k for his efforts.
