The Online Poker Weekend – Shorr Wins PokerStars Sunday 500

This past weekend, the online tournament action was yet again hot at PokerStars. It was a relatively standard weekend in terms of 6-figure tournament winners: 4 players earned such massive prizes. The “name” crowd was yet again active too: Shannon Shorr was the most successful one: he won the Sunday 500, for a more than decent reward. The Sunday Million was yet again the main event of the weekend: the $1 million guaranteed event drew a starting field of 6,835 players, who combined buy-ins to create a prize-pool of $1,367,000, leaving the initial guarantee in the dust as usual.
Mantas Bagocius was the one who won the event, after he struck a deal with the eventual runner-up “WithoutAir”. The winner took down $196.7k for his efforts, while the runner-up walked away with a pretty handsome reward of $164.9k.
There was only one other player who managed to break into six figures: “gjta” finished 3rd for $109.3k.
Tim English was the highest finishing “name” player: he came in 4th, pocketing more than $75k for his efforts.

The Sunday Warm-Up managed to put its guarantee to shame too: the 3,497 participants created a prize-pool of $699.4k. There were no deals at the top in this event. The winner, Vladislav Donchev, was the only 6-figure winner of the event and the only player to earn such a substantial prize outside the Sunday Million. Donchev took home $109.8k. The runner-up, “PIPI tapis!” was rewarded with 81.8k.

Shannon Shorr’s win came in the Sunday 500, which drew a starting field of 792 players. The initial guarantee was put to shame in this event too: the prize-pool was a $396k one. Shorr took down $52.7k despite a 4-way deal.
