The Online Poker Weekend – Sunday Majors Steam Ahead

This weekend was dominated by PokerStars’ MicroMillions 6 tournament-wise. The micro buy-in series saw massive starting fields belly up to the virtual tables of each and every one of its events, and after about 20 MicroMillions tournaments, top prizes as big as $30k have been awarded. When it comes to truly substantial profits though, we always have to fall back on PokerStars’ Sunday Million, and the flagship weekend major of the online poker industry didn’t disappoint this time either. The biggest winner of the weekend emerged from the tables of the Sunday Million yet again. Tim Ulrich of Germany was the one who walked away with the biggest haul of $180k, following a three-way deal at the top of the Sunday Million. Ulrich didn’t win though: in fact, he finished third, failing to win his second career Sunday Million, an accomplishment has was obviously gunning for.
The Sunday Million drew a starting field of 7,349 players, creating a prize-pool of $1.48 million, once again putting the original $1million guarantee to shame.
The eventual winner of the tournament was a player known by the online moniker “liv_hbk”, who ended up taking home $164.9k. “Running Goot” finished second, taking down $161.4k for his efforts. Outside of the top 3, no one else finished with a 6-figure prize.
The deepest finishing notable (besides Ulrich of course) was Steve Leonard, whose 11th place netted him $8.1k.

The Sunday Warm-up saw 3,502 players belly up to the tables. The event generated a single 6-figure winner: tnapoleao who walked away with the top prize of $109.9k. No deals were made at the top of this tournament. Jacob Carlsson was the deepest-finishing notable: he took home $3.1k for his 14th place.

Full Tilt Poker’s $250k guaranteed managed to leave its guarantee in the dust as well. The winner of this event, “threat89”, took home $53k for his efforts, following a heads-up deal.
