The Online Poker Weekend – Top Pros Busy at WSOP

Even though the
2013 WSOP has reached its closing stages as its Main Event kicked off this weekend, there was still plenty of action in the various online majors over the weekend, at
Full Tilt Poker as well as at
PokerStars. The opportunity was certainly there for the rank and file players to get something going since all the top pros were tied up in Las Vegas and thus mostly absent from the online poker tables.
As far as the identity of the biggest tournament winner of the weekend goes: there weren’t any surprises there. The biggest winner was yet again the winner of PokerStars’ Sunday Million, “dreammancy”, who took home a $181.2k prize, despite a two-way deal at the top of the biggest Sunday major.
The Sunday Million drew a starting field of 6,247 players whose buy-ins generated a prize-pool of $1,249,400. The winner of the event was the above said “dreammancy”. The runner-up, a player known by the online moniker “akport” walked away with a $149.3k haul. The two top finishers were the only ones to climb into 6-figures, although the third-place finisher, “madd2cz”, almost succeeded in that too: he/she finished with $99.95k. No “name” players made it into the top 10 or even into the money for that matter.
The Sunday Warm-Up saw 2,545 players belly up to its tables, creating a prize-pool of $509k, barely covering the guarantee. There were no 6-figure winners in this event and there were no deals at the top either. The eventual winner, gppsromon, walked away with $80.4k. There weren’t any deep-finishing notables in this event either.
Full Tilt Poker’s $250k Guaranteed failed to cover its guarantee. The 1,065 registrants did battle for a $250k prize-pool. The winner was 77kol0bok77, who took home $50k. There were no deals at the top.
Full Tilt Poker is slowly but surely reclaiming its spot as the world’s best online cash game destination.
