Even though the live tournament action has been red-hot in recent weeks, the online majors didn’t disappoint over the weekend either. No fewer than 4 players walked away with 6-figure prizes, among them the winner of the Sunday Million, a player known by the moniker “JopperHarryN”, who was obviously the biggest winner of the weekend.
The Sunday Million was yet again responsible for the biggest prize-pool and the biggest attendance records. As a matter of fact, of the four 6-figure winners, three earned their hauls in the Sunday Million.
The event drew a starting field of 6,377 players, who combined buy-ins to create a prize-pool of $1,275,400, soaring right past the guarantee yet again. The reason why three players were able to walk away with 6-figure prizes was that there was a 3-way deal made at the top, which left the winner $165.8k. The runner-up, a player known as “gigibaston”, took down $151.7k, while the third place finisher, Nick Goff, took home $121.9k.
There were few notables among the top 100 this time around.
The Sunday Warm-Up was the event responsible for the 4th 6-figure winner. 3,187 players showed up for this event, generating a prize-pool of $637.4k. The winner was Manta_Rays, who made no deals and thus took down the full share of the victor: $100k. The runner-up was FEL777, who pocketed $74.5k for his efforts. Jan Heitmann finished 12th in this one, earning a little over $3k for his efforts.
The Sunday 500 saw only 710 players belly up to its tables. The third major
online poker tournament of the week, the 500 featured a $355k prize-pool. James Broom won this one, taking down $60.7k for his top spot. The runner up was “boytakas” who picked up $49.6k.
None of the other weekend tournaments yielded 6-figure winners at
PokerStars or at any of the other online poker rooms. As a matter of fact, nobody managed to climb past the $50k mark either.
