The Online Poker Weekend – WSOP.com Joins the Fray

Weekends are always busy at the virtual green felts, and this past weekend was by no means an exception. Indeed, there was a lot of action to go around, as all the majors at the biggest online poker rooms (and by that we mean PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and PartyPoker) managed to cover their guarantees.
A newcomer to the weekend majors club also surfaced in WSOP.com, who put their first $100k Online Championships Freeroll on offer, attracting a starting field of 1,294 players.
The winner of the tournament was a player known by the online moniker johnb16, who walked away with $19k – not a bad haul at all, considering the $0 buy-in. Second place went to Et_Tu_Brute, whose reward was $12.5k. There were no other 5-figure winners in the event. While the above said WSOP.com freeroll was indeed a nice addition to the weekend lineup, the heavy hitters were the usual ones: the biggest tournament winner of the weekend came from PokerStars’ Sunday Million yet again, where – despite a 4-way deal at the top – Finland’s “kongolainen” took home a $171.5k prize.
All 4 players involved in the said deal walked away with 6-figure prizes. Indeed, of the 5 six-figure winners the weekend has created, 4 came from the tables of the Sunday Million. The highest finishing notable in the Sunday Million was Matt Marafioti, who earned $1.69k for his 89th place.

The other 6-figure winner of the weekend came from the Sunday Warm-Up at PokerStars. H.Oussale took home $102.9k, having made no deals on his way to the top.
Niall Farrell was the deepest-finishing notable in this one, picking up $1.96k for his 16th place.

Full Tilt Poker’s $250k guarantee covered its goals too. The winner of this event took home 55.2k.
PartyPoker’s $200k was won by eugencoop771, whose reward was $43.4k. Play at PartyPoker and take advantage of their live event promotions, some of which carry superb value indeed.
