The Online Poker Weekend – Yann Dion and Nico Fierro Finish Deep


With the 2012 WSOP finally a distant memory, players are beginning to file back to the online poker tables for tournament action. Last week, player participation in the major weekend guarantees at PokerStars was up. Several name players – among them Yann Dion and Nico Fierro logged deep finishes in various events.
The Sunday Million saw plenty of high profile pros belly up to its virtual tables too. The event attracted 5,896 participants, creating a prize-pool of $1,197,200. The fate of the top prize was decided in a 2-way deal at the top. Eventually, a player known as FONBET_RULIT emerged as the winner. He took down $168,360 for his efforts. The runner-up, Leqenden, took home $154,886. Third place man EMPTY1SEAT almost managed to break past the $100k mark as well. He ended up taking home $96.9k.
Jesper Hourgaard was the highest finishing ‘name’ player: he took home $5.1k for his 14th place. Kevin Tanner ended up in 51st place, for a $2k reward.

The Sunday Warm-Up saw Rafael Riveira finish on top. The winner’s share of the loot was $88.6k in this event. A total of 2,815 players took part in the event, creating a prize-pool of $563k. Yann Dion finished 9th in the event, taking home $4.7k for his efforts.

The Sunday 500 saw only 754 players cough up the $530 buy-in. Kenny Halaert finished the event in 3rd place, for a prize of $36.7k. Kenny Hicks played in the event too: he finished 4th right behind Halaert for $27.5k.
Nico Fierro’s deep finish came in the PokerStars Second Chance event, which featured a buy-in of $215, and which saw a starting field of 1,171 players belly up to its tables. Fierro finished the tournament in 4th place, picking up $16.8k out of a prize-pool of $234.2k. The winner was decided by a 2-way deal at the top. DjDanielLem was the eventual winner: he earned $37.5k. LetsFlipIt finished second for $34.6k.
