Full Tilt Poker has released another statement regarding the precarious financial and legal position in which the company currently is. This time, the statement details the measures taken by the company to streamline its operation, optimizing it for activity outside the US market. The company is apparently aiming to reduce its operating costs by around €12 million. The move may well affect no fewer than 250 positions at the company although that number has not yet been confirmed.
According to the statement, Pocket Kings (the company behind
Full Tilt Poker) is still a firm believer in the future that Full Tilt Poker has in outside the US, therefore it is committed to fully restoring the site and to fully repaying all the customers who currently have money locked up at the site. To that end, the company has not stopped its search for an investor that would allow it to continue to operate in non-US markets.
In other news: the Alderney Gaming Control Commission is about to hold a new round of hearings regarding the Full Tilt Poker issue. The hearing is scheduled for September 19, and this time the public will not be allowed to attend. According to a recently released AGCC statement, the hearing will be held behind closed doors.
The controversy caused by the nature of the upcoming hearing has already begun though.
In still other news: the Partouche Poker Tour’s Main Event saw the second day of action wrap up with the elimination of many a ‘name’ player. 322 survivors bellied up to the tables at the beginning of the day: 182 from Day 1b and 140 from Day 1a. Jason Mercier was among those who failed to survive the Day 2 hurdle. His final hand saw his A,K fall to an opponent’s pocket 9s in a classic coin-flip.
Many of those who busted out of the Main Event registered for the €1,500 side-event.
