The Poker Grapevine – Another Potential Full Tilt Buyer on the Horizon?

Full Tilt Poker have been negotiating a takeover with French conglomerate Groupe Bernard Tapie for a while, and there are signs that cracks may be appearing in the deal which at one point was pretty much sold to the public as an iron-cast deal. According to certain insiders, GBT are already looking for a way to back out of the deal. One thing is certain at any rate: as confirmed by GBT lawyer Behnam Dayanim, there has been little progress in the takeover talks lately. Just in case the GBT deal falls through, it looks like another corporate entity is gearing up to enter the talks. A private-equity firm based in the UK is apparently interested in purchasing Full Tilt’s software. The number floated for the software is between $30 and $35 million. The funds would go into a neutral account, from where administrators could then distribute the money to Full Tilt’s creditors.

In other news: Isaac Haxton will take on Viktor Blom heads-up in PokerStars’ SuperStar Showdown challenge, in a re-match of the first ever SuperStar Showdown confrontation, which took place in December 2010. Back then, Haxton took about $41k from Blom, and remained the most successful SuperStar Showdown contestant to this day. Other players who were able to stand up to the Swede were Daniel Negreanu, who once managed to take $26k from him (although he had dropped a lot more to Blom beforehand) and Scott Palmer, who scored a $5k profit against Blom before dropping a whole lot more himself. The player who got off the cheapest (with a loss of only $10) was Atilla Gulcsik, who won his SuperStar Showdown seat through an online qualifier. Thus far, Isildur1 has accumulated $501.4k through his various SuperStar Showdown matches.
Blom will now get the chance to exact some sweet revenge against the only player who got the better of him in the series.
