Just as there are more ways to skin a cat, there are more ways to make money on the
WSOP Main Event too. Those who cannot afford to cough up the $10k buy-in and the various expenses that come with such a trip, can simply wager on the player they think will win the Big Dance this year. Several online sportsbooks have introduced lines on the players most likely to finish near the top, although the wagering options are far from being limited to the winner.
Bovada for instance have introduced odds on which of the ex-Main Event champions will last longer this year: Jonathan Duhamel and Pius Heinz are quoted with 3/1 odds, while the odds on Joe Cada and Peter Eastgate are 7/2. Even Jerry Yang is featured, with 4/1 odds.
Those interested in wagering on various Main Event bets should check out the odds page at Bovada.
New Jersey has been looking to pass legislation regarding online poker and gambling for a while now, and it appears that this time the lawmakers will indeed be able to push their bill through. The proposed bill, amended to make all involved happy, successfully advanced through a committee the other day, and it will next go in front of the Assembly for a full vote.
The committee cleared by the bill was the Assembly Budget and Appropriations Committee, which has voted in favor of it 6-0, with a mere 3 abstentions.
There is another internet poker bill in the works in New Jersey, the one pushed by Raymond Lesniak. That bill has been sidelined for a while though, on account of Gov. Chris Christie’s unclear position on the issue. Lawmakers are puzzled by the flip-flopping of the Governor thus they are currently in no position to make any sort of predictions regarding the legalization and regulation of the game.
