Online bad beat jackpots which serve up fabulous amounts of money are pretty much a thing of the past these days. While there still are a few
online poker operators which can afford to run such promotions, the post Black Friday world is no longer as generous in this respect as it used to be.
The same thing apparently cannot be said about live bad beat jackpots though. On Monday, Caesars Entertainment made an announcement regarding a jackpot that had just broken the record. Weighing in at a massive $702,182, the jackpot was generated at Caesars Entertainment’s Atlantic City properties and it has pretty much put the previous record of $672,115 to shame.
The buzz surrounding the jackpot is obviously great and the Caesars Entertainment poker rooms have never been as popular as they are now in Atlantic City.
The last jackpot awarded by Caesars was back in March, when players at the winning table shared a $281k prize. Since then, the pot has been swelling, untouched through March, April, May, June and July.
In other news:
Ladbrokes haven’t made many headlines lately and that is quite possibly one of the reasons why the company has been struggling online. It was only a question of time till heads began to roll in the matter, and sure enough, on Monday, Richard Ames, head of the company’s online division has been fired with immediate effect. Ames will continue to work for the company as a director, at least until further notice.
The reasons blamed for the sudden drop of online revenue were the diminishing sportsbook margins and the delays in technology updates that the company has experienced lately.
William Hill, Ladbrokes main competitor, has registered a 30% increase of its online profits for the first half of 2012.
In still other news: PokerStars’ Brazilian pro Andre Akkari has found a new agent. Communications agency 9ine will henceforth be responsible for Akkari’s image, and public relations.
