The Poker Grapevine – Daniel Negreanu Resumes Challenge

Not many may know about this, but back in 2009,
PokerStars pro Daniel Negreanu embarked on a rather peculiar challenge, apparently inspired by Chris Ferguson’s $0 to $10k Challenge which the Full Tilt pro had apparently successfully completed. Negreanu, who has several millions in tournament and cash game winnings decided to start off a $10 bankroll and build it into a $100k one at PokerStars. According to him, the goal of the challenge was to make him familiar with the lower stakes and to give him an insight into what everyday players are dealing with at the site.
Negreanu started playing at the $0.01/$0.02 tables and he made it a goal for himself not to move up before he accumulated at least 500 BBs at the next limit. He initially figured he could pull off the stunt in about 3 years, but then he kind of happened across better things to do and the whole challenge thing got tossed onto the backburner. It’s been more than 3 years since Negreanu officially started the challenge so it has obviously gone past its initial deadline, on Monday however, the PokerStars pro took his $221.7 challenge bankroll back to the $0.15/$0.50 tables, re-embarking on his quest. This time, there has been no word about the time frame.
In other news: nominations for the 2012 Class of the Poker Hall of Fame have been opened, so players can now choose to nominate someone for entry into the annals of poker history. According to tradition, one or two players shall be elected for induction and they shall be entered into the Hall of Fame in October, as part of the festivities surrounding the WSOP Main Event final table. The most recent HoF additions are Barry Greenstein and Linda Johnson, who were both added last year. Nominations have to fulfill certain requirements to qualify, so not just anyone can be nominated.
