The Poker Grapevine – Dwan vs Blom

Full Tilt Poker pros Tom Dwan and Viktor Blom have quite a history together. Back in 2010 when they were both in their primes, playing for $1 million+ pots at Full Tilt, one of them got the definite better of the other. Indeed, despite losing all his Full Tilt funds eventually, Blom took a lot of money from Dwan, and Dwan never really managed to exact any sort of revenge for that. Brian Hastings jumped in and relieved the Swede of all his winnings before he could.
It now looks like the two will lock horns again at Full Tilt Poker again, although this time around, the stakes will be much lower. They have apparently agreed to a $100k heads-up match, which would see them come to grips at 4 tables. Blom was apparently the player who wanted to set up the match, tweeting about it several times. Dwan has finally accepted the challenge and the two will get right to it this coming Sunday.
The rules are simple: they will play at 4 NL Holdem tables, and the winner will take all in the end. The two players are members of Full Tilt Poker’s “The Professionals” team. As a matter of fact, they make up about one third of the team.

In other news: The National Heads-up Poker Championship, considered by many to be a true test of poker skill, is rumored to return next year. NBC is apparently set on bringing the event back, after a one-year hiatus.
The event will feature a $20k buy-in and it will run from January 24 through January 26, 2013. The venue will be Caesars Palace. Ratings had apparently never been an issue with the show: it was the withdrawal of PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker that prompted the organizers to pull the plug.
