The Poker Grapevine – EPT San Remo on the Horizon

Barely has the WSOPE wrapped up, high stakes live tournament players already have a new destination to head to: the EPT’s San Remo Stop. The latest stop on the Season 9 schedule of the EPT kicks off on October 5, featuring a variety of side events and a €5.3k Main Event which is set to provide plenty of bang for the buck. Droves of high-profile competitors have already descended on San Remo, among them PokerStars’ Daniel Negreanu, Faraz Jaka, Eugene Katchalov, Jason Mercier and Liv Boeree.
Besides the regular side events and direct access qualifiers for the Main Event, the stop will also host a High Roller: the €10.3k event. Among the side events there’s a €2.1k 8-handed PLO Turbo one and a €2.2k NL Holdem Single Re-entry event. The very first event of the stop, the €5.3k IPT High Roller is already underway.

In other news: Chad Elie, of Black Friday fame, has been sentenced the 5 months in prison the other day. Elie acted as a payment processor for all the major online poker operations, board members of which have been indicted on Black Friday too. Elie has pleaded guilty to a variety of charges brought against him, among which violation of the 2006 UIGEA, conspiracy to commit bank fraud and operating an illegal gambling business.
Elie was set to go on trial on April 9, but he struck a plea agreement with the state, offering up his cooperation, in exchange for which he received the above said prison penalty and paid out $500k in fines. Everything considered, he got off easy, especially in light of the fact that he was facing a maximum sentence of 85 years in jail. In a brief statement following the announcement of the sentence, Elie asked for the forgiveness of his family and friends, whom he said he had “disappointed”.

Well, to start, I hope you plan to open in Nevada or an Indian reservation. Those are balicalsy the last places that you can gamble. I know there is one place back east that you can New Jersey maybe? You have to get a gambling license I believe. The reason behind that is that gambling is heavily taxed by state governments. (Thats where Nevada gets its money to do just about everything.)You also have to be 18 to gamble. (21 if alcohol is served at your location.) So you would have to check ID's.Contact
