The Poker Grapevine – Full Tilt Back in Action

Last Tuesday, the online poker world has witnessed something many had long given up hope on: the re-launch of real money games at Full Tilt Poker. The much-hyped re-launch did indeed turn out to be all it was made up to be: within a couple of minutes after the real money tables went online for the first time since the Black Friday induced shutdown of the site, there were more than 10,000 players dealt in, which meant that Full Tilt powered its way into second place on the traffic-wise ranking of online poker operations, right behind PokerStars. On Tuesday, according to a site specialized in tracking online poker traffic, Full Tilt Poker real money cash game traffic hit a 14,773 player high.

Hiring poker pros like Gus Hansen and Viktor Blom was definitely a great move on the part of the site too: both the Great Dane and Blom jumped right back into the highest stakes, and they both did what they’re best at: Blom won big and Hansen lost even bigger. Hansen’s first table was a $1,000/$2,000 Limit 2-7 Lowball one, while Blom warmed up at the $0.5/$1 NL Holdem tables, before hitting the $50/$100 PLO ones. The two even played against each other later in the day. The big missing name was that of Tom Dwan, who failed to show up for the opener. Rumors have it that he was in the US on Tuesday and he obviously could not play from there, but he was looking forward to joining the fray as soon as possible.

While most of the world can access and play at Full Tilt’s real money tables, those in France, Estonia, Belgium, Denmark and Spain aren’t allowed to join the action. They can however withdraw their funds through PokerStars. Only players in Italy and the US are unable to access funds.
