Full Tilt Poker have long been in hot water and there’s no apparent end to their woes. Several class-action lawsuits have been filed against the company, by disgruntled players who have had their monies stuck at the site. The other day, another such lawsuit has been added to the list. This time, the entity behind the legal move was Canada’s Consumer Law Group, which filed a nation-wide class action suit against the company, alleging that Full Tilt poker were holding hostage about $5-10 million of Canadian poker players’ monies.
According to a press release, the suit has been filed on behalf of individuals who have funds held in their
Full Tilt Poker accounts.
An interesting fact concerns the identity of the main plaintiff: Mitchell Schnurbach is one of the players who have money stuck at Full Tilt Poker. Unlike some of the other Canadians, one of whom has $10k held and another who has $250k stuck, Schnurbach only has between $1-5 in his Full Tilt account.
The lawsuit can’t yet move ahead though: a Quebec judge needs to approve it before the plaintiffs can go after Full Tilt’s US and Canadian assets.
In other news: Phil Hellmuth will be the captain of Team Americas in the upcoming 2011 Caesars Cup which will see Europe square off against the Americas. The Americans have a score to settle: the last edition of the Caesars Cup took place in London in 2009, and Team Europe, led by Annette Obrestad scored a huge upset against the Americans led by Daniel Negreanu.
Exactly who shall represent the Americas this time around isn’t quite clear yet. Hellmuth has thrown out several tweets about the event and he has floated several names, among them those of Daniel Negreanu, Tom Dwan, Johnny Chan, Huck Seed, Phil Ivey and Ben Lamb.
The two teams will be made up of 5 players each. The first team to reach 3 points wins the event.
