We realize that as a serious poker news portal we should probably not contribute to the spreading of various unverified rumors, but if this one turns out to be true, it may be the biggest headliner since Black Friday.
Apparently, Adam Schwartz, a PokerCast host at one of the most reputable poker forums, shot out a tweet the other day, in which he stated that trustworthy sources told him Full Tilt Poker’s acquisition by a group of unknown French investors had consummated. Someone later replied to the tweet asking Schwartz whether he believed the rumor was indeed true, and Schwartz reportedly said that given the nature of his source, he would be extremely surprised if it weren’t.
Neither
Full Tilt Poker, nor any of the attorneys representing the site have made any comments regarding the rumor yet.
In other news: On Monday, the proposed gambling and online poker regulations have gone through a hearing at the Nevada Gaming Control Board. The board apparently considered the public response generated by the proposed legislation.
According to Chairman Mark Lipparelli, the goal was to create a truly solid foundation for the regulations. The discussions were reportedly rather peaceful, in a relatively stark contrast with the kind of animosity that such discussions usually generate in Capitol Hill circles.
Gaming attorney Anthony Cabot suggested that the proposed text include language aimed at keeping online gambling and poker off the intra-state level until the Federal ban is lifted or until the DoJ makes certain clarifications in regards to the legal status of the aforementioned online activities.
In still other news: the
EPT has added another deep stack event to its Prague stop. The event is a €300+€30 buy-in one, which will offer a €30k guarantee and will double as the Eureka Poker Tour’s final. The event was supposed to take place in Romania, but it was moved to the Czech stop instead.
