The Poker Grapevine – Ivey on Fire

Phil Ivey hasn't exactly been doing well lately at the live poker tables. He took part in the Aussie Millions main event, and he busted out in 30th place, which isn't exactly a stellar accomplishment for a player of his caliber. Whatever he was lacking at the live tables however, he made up for online, where he has gone on quite a heater in recent days.
On Thursday for instance, he logged on to Full Tilt Poker, and he descended upon the no limit Holdem, pot limit Omaha and mixed games tables there. Word has it, he finished the day with a $589,000 profit. What that means is that considering the three days leading up to his Thursday hit, Ivey has made a mind-boggling $818,000 at Full Tilt Poker's high-stakes tables. What that also means is that he just managed to finally get himself out of the red at Full Tilt Poker, where he had dropped quite a bit of money after the site re-launched last November.

For a player like Ivey, the regular scene of the action looks a bit like the $300/$600 NLH tables, where he took on Alex Millar heads up on Thursday. The decision to invest time, money and energy into a one hour session was definitely the correct one for Ivey: he walked away with a $280,000 profit from the table at the end of the session. The biggest pot that he took down from Millar was a $135,000 one, which was pushed his way after a classic coin flip that saw his pocket tens hold up against Millar's A,Ko.

In other news: PokerStars Pro Joe Cada has finally managed to set up a second residence north of the border, which will allow him to periodically play online poker legally.
