The Poker Grapevine – Jason Alexander’s Quick WSOP Main Event Exit

Jason Alexander has been a staple presence at the tables of the WSOP Main Events for the last few years. The Seinfeld actor, whose on-screen character George Costanza seems to follow him everywhere – yes even the poker tables – has never been fond of Day 1s, when he says most of the small-talk and the harassment happens. The small-talk is obviously mostly various Seinfeld quotes hurled his way, more or less cleverly wrapped into various conversation topics. Being that recognizable can indeed be a pain in the nether regions and Alexander – who otherwise likes chatting people up – could probably say volumes about that.
His
2013 WSOP Main Event turned out to be an unusually frustrating run, not because of the above said celebrity-status-related issues, but rather because of Lady Luck’s refusal to allow him to get anything going, even when he got the goods into the middle on more than decent odds.
On one occasion, he had the nut flush and he obviously pushed the chips into the middle, only to be swept aside by someone’s hidden boat. Later in the day, he made three aces and another guy rivered a flush to take more chips away from him.
Left with only around 14k chips, he made another nut flush and he made some chips on that, going back up to about 23k.
By the time he hit pocket As again, he was down to 20k. He pushed chips into the middle on that and another player made a flush against him to leave him with just 10k.
His last hand came when he was down to about 8k chips. He picked up a K,J suited and got a caller who had A,K suited. The board fell bricks only and George Costanza was out.
