The Poker Grapevine – Jonathan Duhamel Joins Premier League

PartyPoker’s Premier League VI is slowly but surely filling up its available spots. The latest “name” player to join the lineup is Jonathan Duhamel, 2010 WSOP Main Event Champion. For Duhamel, this showing will be his first in the Premier League. He joined a lineup which already includes PokerStars pro Daniel Negreanu, reigning Premier League Champion Scott Seiver, online poker prodigy Daniel Cates, Antonio Esfandiari, the winner of the biggest live poker tournament ever organized, Phil Hellmuth the Poker Brat and Tony G. According to a PartyPoker blog post, Duhamel said he was excited and honored to play in such a high-caliber event.
The scene of the Premier League VI will be the Aspers Casino in London, and kickoff time is March 17. A total of 16 players will participate in the event, each of whom will cough up a $125k buy-in. Duhamel also said that the unique format of the Premier League called for a special kind of approach on his part and that he was looking to adapt his game as much as possible. He also guaranteed that in the end he would be the one lifting the Premier League VI trophy.

In other news: Godsmack’s Sully Erna has been a poker player for quite a few years now, although those following such things know that he has taken a bit of a hiatus from the game in recent years. According to Erna, the hiatus was warranted by the fact that he was losing patience every time he played poker, ending up to play loads of crappy hands, looking like a donk and donating money left and right. With his band’s touring on hiatus now, the time has been deemed right by the frontman to return to the green felt and to add to his trophy-case, which already includes two WSOP cashes.
