The Poker Grapevine – Massive Layoffs at FTP

More bad news emerged from Full Tilt Poker after 180 Pocket Kings Employees were laid off in Dublin over the past week. The newest wave of layoffs took the total number of Pocket Kings employees let go after the Black Friday Events to 400.

The layoffs were announced in September and all those fired now got statutory redundancy. The more newsworthy part of the story is though that those laid off suddenly felt an urge to offer the world an insight into the internal workings of Full Tilt Poker, and several off them took to a popular poker forum to answer player questions there. One of these ex-Pocket Kings employees turned out to be an extremely prolific poster: he answered around 130 questions, covering a wide array of subjects. According to this ex-employee, Full Tilt Poker’s much hyped sale to the Bernard Tapie Group was far from being as highly likely as it was presented in the press. The odds of the deal falling through were high according to the poster. He also opined that if the sale did indeed fall through, Full Tilt Poker wouldn’t make it past January 2012. While the actual identity of the ex-employee couldn’t be verified, his answers were thorough and detailed enough to offer at least some circumstantial proof in this respect.

In other Full Tilt related news, a Spanish poker site was apparently contacted by a French poker magazine which is said to be conducting a survey among players who have had significant amounts of money locked up at Full Tilt. One of the survey questions was apparently directed at the money transfer options players would prefer if they were to get their monies back.
The interesting bit of the story is that the French magazine is apparently connected to the Bernard Tapie Group, the business-entity rumored to be interested in purchasing the beleaguered online poker giant.
