The 2012 WSOP Main Event successfully played down to its final table. Dubbed the ‘November Nine’, the surviving 9 players will only return to play down to a winner in the fall. As we’ve discussed in one of our past articles,
making money on the Main Event is possible by wagering money on the various participants too. With the final table reached, odds are already available on the players. The current chip leader, Jesse Sylvia is a 3/1 favorite. He has a massive stack of 43.8 million chips. Andras Koroknai, currently second in chips has 29.3 million at his disposal, which is enough for 5/1 odds on his possible win. Greg Merson is quoted with 5/1 odds as well.
Those who are looking to make serious money though, won’t bet on any of these three players. While Jeremy Ausmus may be too much of a long shot with his short stack of 9.8 million chips and his extremely attractive 1/16 odds, there are other deals available that do indeed carry great value: Robert Salaburu or Michael Esposito aren’t the biggest underdogs yet their 1/8 and 1/9 odds are quite attractive indeed. Historical data seems to support such picks too: Pius Heinz was 6th in chips last year, yet he came through and won, giving a huge payday to all those who had wagered on him. In 2009, Joe Cada started 5th in chips, while in 2008, Peter Eastgate started out 4th. Jerry Yang was 8th in 2007, and those who bet on him collected 19 dollars for every one they had wagered.
In other news:
PokerStars pro Andre Coimbra has vowed to play in every single event of the second edition of PokerStars’ MicroMillions. Thus far, he’s made good on that promise, as he played in each and every one of the 44 MicroMillions tournaments. He has thus far cashed 13 times and amassed a profit of $273.59, enough for 19th place on the MicroMillions leader board.
