PokerStars have launched a mobile app last week, obviously aimed at riding the trend of bringing
online poker to as many mobile customers as possible. The new mobile client allows players in the UK to engage in play money and real money action on their Android and Apple devices. The app offers a complete online poker experience. There’s Texas Holdem, Omaha hi and Omaha hi/lo. These games can be played in all betting formats. SNG’s and MTTs can be played as well. Features like multi tabling and hand histories are also available. While the new PokerStars app covers pretty much everything that the main PokerStars software does, it is by no means just a porting of PokerStars’ existing software. It is a standalone concept, developed in a targeted and intentional manner to make the best use of the mobile form factor and of the way people in general play games on their mobile devices.
As far as reliability and overall usability is concerned, the new
PokerStars mobile app is the best in mobile online gaming.
In other news: PartyPoker have found a new way to rouse interest in their PartyPoker Premier League: they have added Patrik Antonius to the lineup, a move which is guaranteed to generate excellent hype for the televised show. Antonius will join a notorious lineup which includes Tony G, Luke Schwartz, Sam Trickett, Vanessa Selbst and scores of others.
The event will feature 16 players, and it will be a part of the WPT’s Vienna stop. The winner will not only take down a sizeable cash prize, he/she will also earn a seat in the $25k WPT World Championship event.
Andy Frankenberger, the reigning WPT POY, will be back too to mount a title defense. Last year, Frankenberger took down a prize of $100k after he bested a final table which included Sorel Mizzi and Andrew Feldman. Other players who have won the Premier League in the past are Andy Black, David Benyamine and JC Tran.
