PokerStars - the
online poker site responsible for the launching of numerous regional poker tours world over and for the delivering of the game of poker to the doorsteps of millions of people far off the beaten path - has taken Greece into its crosshairs. Having teamed up with the Club Hotel Casino Loutraki near Athens, the site will organize a poker tournament that will instantly become the largest ever live poker event held on Greek soil. The buy-in will be €1,100 and the action will kick off on March 24.
According to
PokerStars, much like in Italy, player numbers and general interest towards poker are up. The event will basically be a test-run of just how prepared the Greek poker community is to handle such a large-scale event.
Players will be able to buy into the event on the spot, or they can win a seat through one of the Greek Poker Cup satellites that are already running at PokerStars.
In other news: if you’re interested in a Caribbean cruise in the waning weeks of winter, signing up to
888 Poker is probably your best bet. The site offers packages to the Canadian Poker Tour’s Caribbean Super Cruise, which will take place between April 3 and10. There will be plenty of poker played aboard the ship too, although the main focus shall be on some good-old R&R. There will be a $1,200 NL Holdem tournament held during the 7 days of the cruise.
The packages offered by 888 Poker are worth $5,000 each and they cover airfare, spending money, accommodations, as well as the buy-in to the above mentioned event.
888 Poker has also ventured back into the world of darts. Acting as a sponsor for Premier League Darts, 888 Poker will make its brand visible to over 80,000 fans who will pack the arenas where the PLD events will be held.
PokerStars have just expanded their professional roster with 15 more players. Among the newly accepted pros are a couple of MTT grinders, forum posters and a rally driver.
