The poker grapevine – Raymer no longer PokerStars pro

Those who routinely navigate PokerStars’ website to see what changes have been implemented, got a little bit of a surprise the other day: looking at the PokerStars pros list, these ultra radical railbirds may have noticed something missing: Greg “the Fossilman” Raymer. Indeed, the red star indicating his in-house pro status has disappeared from beside his name at PokerStars. According to some avid forum posters, Patt Pezzin questioned the Fossilman about the missing Pro bling and he told him it was a long story and that he should call him if he wanted to find out more. As rumors about the split between the Fossilman and the poker room he had represented for so long intensified, Kathy Liebert dropped a tweet of her own on the matter too. According to her, PokerStars were cutting their pros’ compensations, not really offering them much of a choice in the matter. Raymer had apparently decided not to accept the new setup.
In a statement released later, Raymer himself confirmed that he was indeed no longer part of the PokerStars fold.
Eric Baldwin on the other hand has just extended his UB contract for two more years.

In other news: Jonathan Duhamel, the winner of the 2010 WSOP Big Dance is by no means the type of champ to take the dough and to ride off into the sunset. He has followed his Main Event win with several deep cashes in various live poker events and a few days ago, he did it again: he won the EPT Deauville’s $10k high roller event. It may not have been the WSOP Main Event or the EPT Deauville Main Event for that matter, but Jonathan took the €203k top prize without complaint. As a matter of fact, he was so content after he disposed of Alain Confino heads-up that he was overheard telling Martin Jacobson on the rail that he loved poker.
