The Poker Grapevine – Sam Trickett’s New Ferrari

UK pro Sam Trickett has made quite a few headlines recently. First, he announced that he has signed with the ISPT, and that he would be the official representative of the brand in the UK, for the upcoming May 31 Wembley Stadium event. Then, he posted the $250k buy-in for the
Macau High Stakes Challenge, a HKD $2 million event, in which the cream of the poker world will play for a first place prize which is rumored to be around $5 million.
To top it all off, he then purchased a Ferrari 458 Spider, which – as he put it in a tweet – was quite possibly the worst financial decision of his life. Although we do indeed agree with the fact that the purchase was a bad financial move, we must also admit that if someone deserves a little bit of extra pampering in poker, Sam Trickett is that guy. He has been on an extraordinary heater for the last 3 years, piling up titles and cash finishes. No wonder that he’s amassed more than $14.5 million in tournament winnings over the last two years alone.
He’s also rumored to have won several millions in the nosebleed stakes cash games in Macau.
In other news: Monday is the day to take a look back at the traffic at various online poker sites during the previous week. The overall online poker traffic has yet again seen a drop, albeit an only 0.6% one this time. With the 85th billionth hand looming on the horizon, PokerStars saw a 17% traffic increase a week ago. Now, with the promotions out of the way and the winners happy with their prizes, that traffic dropped a massive 13%. PokerStars obviously is still the top
online poker destination with more than 22,000 players at its cash game tables on average. In comparison, the iPoker network, which is second traffic-wise, averaged only 2,850 players.
PartyPoker was 3rd with 2,000 players.
