The poker grapevine – the largest stack of chips in the world

There are large stacks and there are monster stacks, but when you can’t even jump as high as to be able to peek over your stack and you need to walk a few paces to get around it, you know you’re truly well stacked. Kind of like the Paddy Power Poker Team who gave the term “monster stack” an entirely new meaning last week, by having five team members build a 3-meter high and 0.5 meter wide stack of poker chips to create yet another attraction for those looking to take part in the Irish Winter Festival.
The team building the monster stack suffered several setbacks along the way, but in the end it was well worth it: they’ve earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records, having created the largest stack of poker chips in the world, setting the bar pretty high for anyone keen to work his/her way to fame this way in the future.

In case you haven’t noticed, November is just around the corner, which means that we’ll finally get to find out who takes home the top prize of the 2010 WSOP Main Event, along with the jewelry that comes with it of course.
The action kicks off on November 9th and since there’s only a tableful of people that need to head to the rail before the winner can raise his hands in victory, it will be over fairly swiftly. Make sure you do not miss a second of it.

If you’re looking for live poker action in North America, you may want to know that besides the WSOP-C’s Hammond stop, the $1,600 Main Event of which is just now kicking off, PokerStars’ North American Poker Tour will be in LA between November 12th and 17th. The Main Event will take place in the Bicycle Casino and it will feature a buy-in of $5,000.
