The Poker Grapevine – UKIPT Bristol Action

The Bristol Main Event of the United Kingdom and Ireland Poker Tour kicked off on Thursday, drawing 235 players on its first day1 flight. Among those who coughed up the £770 buy-in, were quite a few “name” players too. Dan Carter and Sam Grafton played, and they both managed to survive the first hurdle, advancing to Day 2 on healthy stacks. Roberto Romanello and Sam Holdem played too, however they both busted out. The player who had the most chips bagged at the end of day 1A was Jonathon Prested, whose 121.3k stack was almost twice as big as that of second place man Michael Danko, who finished with 69.6k.
Despite the relatively pro-heavy nature of the first Day 1 flight, there were no
PokerStars pros involved in the action.
Day 1B saw a number of pros belly up to the tables again: Liv Boeree got going on Day 1B, together with Mickey Petersen, Victoria Coren and Martins Adeniya. Jude Ainsworth and Jake Cody were among the starters as well.
In other news: the closing of the Entraction/IGT poker network sent several
online poker operators scrambling for a different host network. The handiest solution for most of the affected sites seemed to be Microgaming network. Betsson, the operators of the online poker room with the same name as well as that of betsafe.com, joined the Microgaming network as well.
According to Henrick Andersson, Betsson’s Group Product Director, his side felt great about the move. On its part, the Microgaming network welcomed Betsson to the fold too, through its head of network games, Lydia Melton.
Several other poker operators previously residing on the IGT network have already joined Microgaming as well.
