For years, the WSOPE’s Cannes stop was one of the major landmarks of the Series. We have recently received word though that the stop will be moved close to Paris for the 2013 season.
The new venue will be the oldest French casino which has recently undergone a massive renovation operation. The Casino Barriere Enghien-les-Bains is less than 10 miles from the French capital, and it now features a poker room where all the action can indeed take place under one roof. There’s also a theatre section available for late-stage tournament action and televised bits, which features 500 seats. According to the WSOPE, the venue promises to be the most comfortable one in the 7-year history of the organization. As a matter of fact, the Casino Barriere Enghien-les-Bains stop is hoped to become a record setting one, given its proximity to one of the largest urban concentrations of the old continent.
The WSOPE’s official 2013 schedule hasn’t been made public yet. What is already highly likely though is that the WSOPE 2013 will feature 7 bracelet events as well as a high roller one. There will of course also be all sorts of direct access satellites and side-events available as well.
In other news:
PokerStars have announced their TCOOP (Turbo Championship of
Online Poker) schedule the other day. The event kicks off on January 17, and it will work its way through 11 days and 50 different events to January 27. The total size of the guaranteed prizes will exceed $15 million. That means that the Series will offer $5 million more than its first, 2012 edition. The buy-ins will start from $7.50. The event featuring the largest buy-in will be the $2.1k high roller. The Main Event features a buy-in of $700.
