The Professionals Take on Team PokerStars

About a week ago we ran a piece about Gus Hansen and Daniel Negreanu’s agreement to pit Full Tilt Poker’s Professionals against Negreanu and two PokerStars pros chosen by him.
Apparently, since then, the Challenge has taken shape. Dwan and Blom accepted the terms too, and Negreanu has made his choices. Not only that, but per the terms agreed upon by the two players through their initial twitter exchange, Hansen has set the individual match-ups too. The Professionals are certainly an intimidating bunch, but the team that Negreanu will send against them isn’t a pushover either: besides himself, Negreanu has called upon the skills of online grinder and live poker tournament buff Bertrand Grospellier, and Isaac Haxton. The match-ups will take place during the EPT’s London stop. On March 10, the 6 players will square off at Full Tilt Poker and everyone who has an account there is free to log in and railbird the action.

The first of the challenge bouts will see Blom take on Bertrand Grospellier, in a battle of the online poker grinders. Next, Dwan will take on Isaac Haxton. The last match of the challenge series pits Hansen against Negreanu.
While railbirding the match-up will certainly be an interesting experience on its own, Full Tilt Poker have upped the stakes, offering players who make a real money deposit of at least $10 between March 1 and March 8 the chance to win $100 and seats in three exclusive $10k freerolls, named after the three challenge match-ups.
Having made their deposits, players will be rewarded with three special tickets which they can use to essentially wager on the outcome of the match-ups. For every one of the winners they get right, players pick up a $10k freeroll ticket.
