Vanessa Selbst’s Outstanding 2013

Some of the high-profile poker celebrities have had good years and some have had bad runs in 2013, because wherever there are winners, there have to be losers as well and although the actual end of the year is still a way off, it is safe to say that Vanessa Selbst can already be considered a major winner in more ways than one.
She kicked her year off in style, proposing to her girlfriend in January and then going on to win the $25k High Roller of the 2013
PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. She took down more than $1.4 million for that accomplishment, on January 12, so the year wasn’t even two weeks old and she’d accomplished more than some people do in a lifetime.
Her outstanding January was followed by a rather mellow February, March and April, but on May 8, she stepped into the limelight again, winning the €1k 5-Card PLO Hi/Lo event of the EPT’s Season 9 Grand Final. That win netted her a $6.5k prize- not exactly a whooper for her – but it turned out to be the mere prelude of a much bigger haul of $380.6k, which she took down by finishing 4th in the EPT Grand Final’s €25k high roller two days later.
Her next cash came in the
2013 WSOP, on June 8, when she finished 60th in a $1.5k
NL Holdem event, for a $7.2k prize.
On September 15, she cashed in big again, finishing runner-up in the $3.3k Borgata Poker Open of the WPT. That performance netted her $492.5k more. On October 5, she followed that up with another 6-figure cash, this time by scoring another victory: she won the UKIPT’s £2k High Roller, pocketing $109.4k.
PartyPoker’s Premier League VII was her last cash, but frankly, she finished last (12th) in this one, taking down $18k, having paid out a $125k buy-in, so this one shouldn’t really count here…
