Weekend online poker action

This past weekend was an extremely generous one as far as massive winnings and prize-pools were concerned in the
online poker world. PokerStars once again led the way in prize-pools and in player numbers, followed by Full Tilt Poker,
Ultimate Bet and the rest of the field.
The biggest winner of the weekend was “JAMA1CA2008”, who won a massive $225,368 in Full Tilt Poker’s $1 Million Guaranteed.
Allen Cunningham had a nice showing in the same event, finishing in 9th place. Another “name” player to finish in a noteworthy position was Jeff Madsen, who ended up 33rd.
Probably the only reason why the biggest prize of the weekend didn’t go to Eric Brix, the winner of
PokerStars’ Sunday Million, was that the top 4 finishers struck a deal in this poker tournament, which deprived the winner of some of the money he would’ve won otherwise.
The $200+$15 event attracted a massive starting field of 8,885 players. These guys combined for a $1,777,000 prize-pool which quite literally thumbed its nose at the guarantee set to $1.5 million.
Eric Brix took down $179,446 for the win. Player “yurabond” finished in second place for a $173,166 payday. A notable finish was that of Kristian Martin, who took down $9,240 for his 10th place.
The Sunday Warm-up drew a much smaller field and thus ended up handing out a much smaller prize-pool as well. The 4,967 players combined for a $993,400 prize-pool, which meant that winner “insanocut” would take home $136,000.
This poker tournament ended in a 3-way deal at the top. Tyler Cornell finished in 15th place for a $4,420 payday.
The Sunday 500’s high buy-in is always a deterrent for players. 1,141 players bellied up to the online tables of this event, giving birth to a $570,500 prize-pool.
Allen Carter took home the big one here, a $71,231 chunk of the prize-pool.
Full Tilt Poker’s $1 Million Guarantee attracted only 2,457 participants, but the $500+$35 buy-in rounded the prize-pool up to $1,225,500. As I said above, JAMA1CA2008 took the first prize in this event. No deals were made at the top.
Notable finishes were those of Mike Spinsanta (11th) and Ryan Carp (13th).
Player MARCELEBOEUF won Ultimate Bet’s $200K Guarantee, pocketing a prize of $46,357 in the process.
