With Isildur1 felted, the age of record breaking pots comes to an end

Here’s one that a couple of weeks ago we’d never thought we’d see: the Isildur1 era of record breaking pots, million dollar swings and out of this world online poker trouncing is apparently over. The mystery Swede had his Full Tilt Poker bankroll cleaned out by Brian Townsend and Cole South, over a few days of bad beats and under bankrolled recovery attempts that ended up in failure.
With the nosebleed action slowly grinding to a halt (in light of the WPT’s Bellagio Five Diamond World Poker Classic and the bad hits that some of the most active protagonists have taken recently), Isildur1 and Tom Dwan set about re-building their
online poker bankrolls. They both dropped down the stakes, with Dwan going for $10,000-ish buy-ins and with Isildur1 opting for heads-up matches against South and Townsend.
Things didn’t look bad for Isildur1 on Saturday night at
Full Tilt Poker when he took on Townsend at the $300/$600 PLO tables. He still had a few hundred thousand and he started the session off well. Pretty soon Townsend recovered though and took all his money back. After all the give and take, Isildur1 finished $80k up, so it wasn’t a bad session for him overall.
Sunday was a different thing though. That time Isildur1 barely landed a blow as Townsend trounced him from pillar to post, taking down a $186,000 pot on one occasion.
Having been taken to school by Townsend, Isildur1 then looked for a different player to engage on his remaining $70K. Cole South was his pick, and he went down the stakes to $100/$200 PLO. Apparently he didn’t go down far enough though. He dropped most of his remaining bankroll to South, and then took his remaining $23k to a single $200/$400 table, where he managed to get it back up to $53k. He then blew all that against South.
Obviously on a tilt, the Swede quickly re-deposited about $60k and sat down at six tables. Soon though, he was back down to naught again as South proved relentless in punishing him.
Whether we’ll see more of Isildur1 or not remains to be seen. What else can I say: it was nice while it lasted…
