WPT Legends of Poker – Day 4 Report
Posted by: Randy Williams - Thu, 2011-09-01 07:13
The 4th day of the WPT’s Legends of Poker event was a rather long and grueling affair: the action wrapped up only on Tuesday morning, when the objective for the day, the reaching of the final table, was achieved.
Jeff Vertes was the one who held the chip lead at the beginning of the day. Zachary Fahmie was the first victim of the day. He bit the dust in 21st place. Dan Heimiller followed him to the rail in 20th place. Derek Palmer was the next victim, disposed of courtesy of Vertes, in 19th place.
Palmer was the one who shoved all-in only to be called by Vertes. Vertes had A,Jo on a board of 10,10,5,8,4 and it’s not clear what Palmer had, but the outcome was as clear as possible.
Palmer was not going to be lonely on the sidelines though. During that same level, Mike Eskandari, Christina Lindley and David Tutthill joined him.
Lindley, the last standing female player, faded away at the hands of Joshua Pollock. Lindley got the last of her chips into the middle on an A,K. Pollock had Pocket Js for the classic coin-flip. The board was a bunch of blanks and Lindley was eliminated.
Pollock kept the pedal to the metal and the next elimination – that of
PokerStars player Shawn Buchannan – was of his doing too. Richard McGee and Tyler Cornell followed Buchannan out the door.
Matt Kay fell in 10th place and David Daneshgar in 9th.
8-handed play went on for a while, before James Carroll bit the dust in 8th, courtesy of Jeff Vertes who made a straight.
Given the fact that the official final table would be a 6-handed one, one more player needed to go before the end of the day. That player was Ray Henson who picked up the reward for 7th after his A,6o fell to Vertes’ A,Ko.
Will Failla finished with the largest stack.
