WPT Montreal – Day 1B Report

Lately, it seems like every second live poker tournament breaks some sort of attendance record in Canada. The latest event to do so was the WPT’s Montreal Main event, the second day 1 flight of which saw no fewer than 695 players register. What that basically meant was that the overall starting field grew to 1,173, setting a new Canadian record for events featuring a buy-in of at least $1k. Soon after the start of the second day 1 flight, the final numbers regarding the starting field as well as the prize-pool, became available. The 1,173 players combined buy-ins to generate a 3,387,939 prize-pool, which means that 117 players will be paid out. Min-cash was set to $5,421, while the winner’s share of the loot will be a massive $754,162. The top prize will include a seat in the WPT Championship, which is scheduled to take place at the Bellagio in the spring and which is worth $25k.

Day 1B of the Montreal event lasted for a massive 12 hours, at the end of which, the starting field had been whittled down to 221. The player who amassed the most chips was Kalpech Raikura, who finished with a stack of 314k chips. Other players who did well and finished with large stacks were Jeff Gross, Glen Cymbaluk and Everol Davis. Gross hadn’t really been a front-runner through the day, but he took down a massive pot towards the end of it to vault to the top. Amanda Musumeci, Tom Marchese and Eric Cajelais managed to earn a day 2 seat too. Dan Smith, the current GPI Player of the Year leader survived Day 1B as well.
PokerStars’ Daniel Negreanu on the other hand didn’t make it, and neither did Jonathan Duhamel and Faraz Jaka.

That depends on what good frllroees are for you. I have recently registered at winner poker through PokerWorks.com It's a relatively new poker room, but still has some good traffic. As about the frllroees, pokerworks is now offering over $ 30,000 in frllroees. So, for me this is some really good stuff, especially when the number of players is very small. At the very first freeroll there were only 80 players, so.. Chances are good, not?So, these are my two cents. You decide what is good for you.Take care,Sa
