WSOP 2010 day 20 – 3 players earn their bracelets

If day 19 did not give away any new
WSOP 2010 bracelets, it was probably because the precious pieces of jewelry were being saved for day 20. No fewer than 3 players earned their gold on day 20: Jeffrey Tebben, William Haydon and David Warga.
Tebben won event #24, the $1,000 NL Holdem event, which finally came to an end on day 20. It took Tebben 4 days to work his way to the top of a 3,289 player starting field, but at least the final table was a fast one. It was as if players had gotten enough of the give and take and decided to get it over with fast. Tebben took on J.D McNamara heads-up as the final stretch of the event got wrapped up within 15 minutes. The final hand of the confrontation saw McNamara’s pocket Js blown away by Tebben’s turned set of Ks.
Tebben pocketed over half a million green ones for his daring run.
The second champion of the day, William Haydon, came out of the $2,500 short-handed NL Holdem event (#26). He final table was a much more tedious one than that of event #24. After Steve Cowley bowed out of the
poker tournament in 6th, 5-handed play raged on for about 4 more hours. Eventually, the final stretch saw Jeffrey Papola go up against Haydon. The final hand of the poker tournament saw Haydon’s A,Jo triumph over Papola’s A,6o.
David Warga wrapped up the list of day 20 winners, by taking down the bracelet awarded by event #27, the $1,500 7-Card Stud Hi/Lo split 8 or better one. The event lasted for 3 long days, at the end of which only Warga and Maxwell Troy remained standing. Warga eliminated Troy in the last hand, when his 6s,5s,3d,6d,7s,7c,Jd bested Troy’s Jh,7d,9h,Tc,3h,Kc,10h.
Event #28 kept rolling on in the meantime, leaving only 12 players in contention for the first prize of the $2,500 PLO tournament. Miguel Proulx finished with the chip lead.
Event #29, the Limit Holdem World Championship almost managed to play down to the final table. Almost, but not quite. 13 players were left standing at the end of the day, Michael Mizrachi among them. Brock Parker and
PokerStars’ David Chiu are also there, so the final table run is bound to be an interesting one.
Event #30, the $1,500 No Limit Holdem event got rolling on day 20 and so did Event #31, the $1,500 HORSE one, which attracted 548 registrants on day 1.
