WSOP 2010 Main Event – Day 2b

Day 2b of the 2010 WSOP Main Event was a relatively short one, at least in WSOP terms: it only lasted for 8 hours. David Assouline emerged with the chip lead at the end of the day, having amassed a stack of 387,800. Assouline wasn’t the only player to break above the 300k mark. Jim Collopy and Matt Reed made it too, together with Ricardo Fasanaro.
Collopy, who appeared first in a
WSOP main event in this year’s Big Dance, had a rather quiet Day 2b. He moseyed along inconspicuously for a while, but then, towards the final stretch, he pulled ahead. Jan Van Fleet made pretty much the same move.
PokersStars’ Vanessa Selbst had had an excellent day too, for several reasons. First of all, she played well and she looked poised to shoot past the 300k chip mark, but eventually finished with 265k. At one point, she woke up with pocket rockets against an opponent’s As,Ks to collect a huge pot. Later, she hit quad Js on the river to collect the Big Ole’ bag of jerky, courtesy of the main sponsor of the WSOP Main Event, Jack Link’s Beef Jerky.
Gabriel Walls was the one player who managed to get his stack past he 400k mark at one point in the
poker tournament. He got hit by bad luck soon after though and fell back to 241k chips by the end of the day.
Phil Ivey, who looked set on another deep run on day 1, had his hopes snapped on day 2B. Doyle Brunson, Gavin Griffin and J.C. Tran hit the rail too.
