WSOP 2010 Main Event – Day 7

The 7th Day of the 2010 WSOP Main Event saw a field of 78 players belly up to the tables. These were the contenders who had survived 6 days of atrocious poker action, and many of them would head to the rail on day 7 too, falling well short of their ultimate goal: the November Nine. Only 27 players were left to head into the final day of this summer’s Series, with hopes for making the final table. Joseph Cheong will be the one to lead the final charge, with a stack of almost 24 and a half million chips.

Cheong managed to get his chips into the middle on the right hand every time. With Lady Luck standing firmly by his side, he chipped up, knocking out short-stacks on coin-flips all through the day. Obviously, being lucky takes nothing away from the skills of a poker player, and Cheong proved on many occasions that he did indeed deserve Lady Luck’s fancy. One such occasion was when he made a bet on a flop of Qd,6d,5c against Scott Clements. Clements called the bet and the 2s fell on the turn. Cheong made yet another bet and he got it called yet again. The river was the 4s and Cheong fired out yet another huge bet. Clements thought about it for a while, but he eventually made the call just to see Cheong table 3c,4c for the straight.

Clements remained in the poker tournament though, together with Michael Mizrachi. Mizrachi finished the 7th day of action with a 6.3 million chip stack.
PokerStars’ Johnny Lodden survived too, together with Hasan Habib and Adam Levy. David Benyamine and Tony Dunst were both eliminated.

Christie points out that the aucneide of THIS blog might not know that an MTT is a multi-table tournament. It's a whole different strategy than a single table tournament, and different again from a typical cash game. I don't have a lot of experience here because I tend not to have eight-hour blocks of time I can devote to a single game. If I did, I think the format appeals to me.
