Day 13 of the
2011 WSOP only awarded one bracelet: the $1,500 HORSE event was won by Aaron Steury, who pocketed the jewelry together with a top prize of $289k. Two more events kept rolling towards their respective conclusions: the $1,500 NL Holdem event and the $2,500 Limit Holdem 6-max event both managed to get past their money bubbles.
Event #18, the $1,500 NL Holdem one, saw 469 players return to the tables on its day 2. The first level of action alone saw 145 hopefuls hit the rail in quick succession. The money bubble was reached and several “name” players, like Jeffrey Papola, PokerStars’ Humberto Brenes, Dwyte Pilgrim, Dan Kelly and Matt Stout finished in the money.
36 players survived the second day of action. Foster Hayes was the one who managed to accumulate the largest stack of chips. At 1.25 million, his stack is by far the most massive. The only other player to break past the 1 million chip mark was Jordan Young.
Event #19, the $2,500 Limit Holdem 6-max event, shot past its money bubble too. 130 players returned to the table to battle it out for the paying positions. Robert Thompson was the one who got it all-in on the bubble with 9,8o. He got called by Rep Porter who had K,9o. Thompson proceeded to hit a straight draw, but he never really got all the way there, and thus he hit the rail, landing all the surviving players in the money.
12 players remained in the tournament, with Alexander Kuzmin leading the field. Of the notables, Matt Matros survived, albeit on a short-stack.
The second of the $1k NL holdem events kicked off on day 13, drawing a massive starting field of 3,175 players. JJ Liu, Shaun Deeb, Faraz Jaka (the player who – like Ivey - had a bone to pick with
Full Tilt Poker before the WSOP) and Scott Montgomery all took part.
The other event to kick off on Day 13 was the $10k Stud World Championship event.
PokerStars’ Daniel Negreanu, Jeff Lisandro, John Cernuto and Jennifer Harman were all among the 126 players who bellied up to the tables at the start of the action.
