2011 WSOP – Day 29 Wrap-Up

Besides the three that awarded bracelets, four more events saw action on day 29 of the 2011 WSOP. Two of those events were fresh ones which kicked off on day 29, while two of them saw their players return for their respective Day 2s.
The $10k NL Holdem six-handed World Championship event saw 126 players return to its tables. With the money bubble set for 48th place, the first objective of the starting field was to play past the money bubble. That goal was reached when John Conkright busted out, becoming the bubble boy of the event. Chris Moorman was the one responsible for his elimination, his pocket Qs getting the better of Conkright’s A,Qo. From that point on, everyone was guaranteed a $19k payday.
Phil Laak, Daniel Alaei, Sean Getzwiller, Tom Marchese and Joe Cada all made the money but failed to proceed deeper.
Mike Sowers finished the day with the largest stack, followed by Chris Moorman and PokerStars’ Bertrand Grospellier. Ban Lamb will return on day 3 too.

201 players showed up for day 2 of the $2,500 Omaha 8/Stud 8 event. The money bubble was barely reached as the field played down to 21. Jim Ferrell was the unfortunate bubble-boy, sent to the rail by the collective efforts of Michael Mariakis and Michael Binger.
Peter Gelencser, Full Tilt Poker’s Josh Arieh and Jerry Buss of the LA Lakers all finished in the money but failed to advance. Michael Mizrachi finished the day with the largest stack. Barry Greenstein, Scotty Nguyen and Abe Mosseri all survived as well.

The first event to kick off on day 29 was the $1,500 NL Holdem event. A starting field of 2,877 players bellied up to the tables. By the day’s end, only 370 remained, with Alex Bolotin leading the survivors into day 2.
The other event which got going was the $2,500 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball event. 310 players registered for this one, which is a healthy number by any measure.
120 players made it to day 2. Jimmy Fricke leads, with Eli Elezra breathing down his neck. Greg Raymer and Justin Bonomo survived too.
