The home stretch of the
2013 PCA’s $25k High Roller was quite an interesting rundown to a winner.
PokerStars pro Vanessa Selbst emerged with the title, having bested Russia’s Vladimir Troyanovskiy heads-up. Troyanovskiy has apparently developed a knack for high rollers lately: he had made the final table of the $100k Super High Roller as well. With her win, Vanessa Selbst has finally given material substance to what people have long known about her: that she was indeed the best female poker player in the world. She now has the numbers to back it up too: she is the most profitable female poker player, having overtaken Kathy Liebert. The $1.42 million prize she took down for this win was enough to give her a $1.1 million advantage over Liebert.
8 players returned to the tables on the final day of the
poker tournament. The first player to fall was Micah Rashkin of the US: he picked up $129.9k for his 8th place. He was followed to the rail by Germany’s Tobias Reinkemeier, who picked up $174.9k for his efforts.
The next player to bite the dust was Brynn Kenney. His share of the prize-pool was $229.9k. Interestingly enough, it only took 12 hands for the above said 3 players at the final table to be all eliminated. 5th place went to Shaun Deeb, the start of the day chip leader, who pocketed $289k for his efforts.
He was followed to the rail by Germany’s Ole Schemion and Mike Watson. With Watson out of the way, the heads-up stage of the event was set.
As the heads-up action kicked off, Selbst had a massive lead over her opponent. She won the first pots too, before the Russian fought back. Eventually though, there was no staving off the inevitable.
