AP’s Black Friday statement

In the wake of the April 15 indictments of some of the top online poker executives, several of the concerned operations have issued statements regarding the matter. Full Tilt Poker and
PokerStars were both quick to re-assure their players, both US-based and offshore, that player funds were completely safe and that all those in the US who had money at the site would at one point be able to recover their funds. As for European players and those from other parts of the world, the two sites quickly set up shop on alternative URLs and business returned to normal within a couple of days.
As Full Tilt and PokerStars were in aggressive damage-control mode, one thing was conspicuously missing: a statement for AP and UB, the other two sites involved in Black Friday’s indictments.
The silence has been broken the other day.
Absolute Poker came forth with a statement regarding the matter. According to the statement, AP would retain the services of Blank Rome LLP to represent the site in relation to the April 15 civil and criminal matters filed by the US Attorney.
The site is also aware of the agreement between the Attorney’s Office and
Full Tilt Poker/PokerStars regarding the return of the .com URLs of the two sites in exchange for their assuming of certain obligations. AP also know about the fact that that the Attorney’s office has placed the same deal onto the table for them, and while they do indeed consider the return of blocked funds to US players their top priority, given the intricate nature of the charges brought, they will wait for the completion of a close-up analysis by their legal team before they commit to a move.
AP have also said that they were looking to fully cooperate with the US Attorney regarding the refunding of their US players, and that to that end their legal team had already initiated contact with the US authorities.
