Make Money in the WSOP 2012

The WSOP was once a stage for professionals; today it’s an amateur poker player’s dream, and many are giving it a shot through qualifiers at major on line poker sites.

In 2003 a young accountant from Nashville Tennessee entered a PokerStars on line poker qualifier for the WSOP. The online satellite cost the young man $39 and unbeknown to him, it was going to change his life and the entire on line poker world forever. The young account’s name was Chris Moneymaker and later that year Moneymaker went on to win $2.5 million in the WSOP Main Event thanks to the seat he won in that PokerStars WSOP qualifier. Chris Moneymaker was the first WSOP winner ever to have qualified through an on line poker sites qualifier.

Since Chris Moneymaker won the WSOP the prizes for the Main Event have gotten bigger and bigger each year. Whilst Moneymaker walked away with $2.5 million, the also virtually unknown Joe Hachem walked away with $7,500,000 in 2005, and PokerStars Pro Pius Heinz won $8,715,638 in 2011. The biggest ever first place prize was won by Jamie Gold in $2006; his prize was $12 million. The reason for this increase in prize pools is quite simple – more players than ever started to partake in the WSOP Main Event following 2003. The 2003 WSOP Main Event saw 839 players, but the following year that figure had jumped to 2,576. The next huge jump comes after Joe Hachem’s success in 2005 when he fended off 5,619 opponents; the following year Jamie Gold appeared victorious out of a field of 8,773! When unknown players hit big it gives every-one a taste for success.

The WSOP 2012 will be running from May 27th to July 16th, and it’s recently been divulged that due to the US elections the final table will be held in October rather than November. All of the major on line poker site; PokerStars, PartyPoker, Titan Poker, Bwin Poker, Unibet Poker will soon be releasing information about their WSOP 2012 packages; what they include, what they’re worth, and most important how they can be qualified for.  We’ll be here to keep you up to date and completely informed on how to make money in the WSOP 2012.
