Bodog to Leave US Market at the End of 2011

Bodog, one of the last online poker sites still open to US traffic will withdraw from the US market at the end of the year. According to CalvinAyre.com, Bodog was granted a UK license, which gives it more credibility and places it in a better position to globally expand its operations. In order to prevent any negative fallout from tainting the reputation of the company, Bodog will simply allow its license with the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group to expire at the end of the year.
Following the December 31st deadline, US residents will no longer be able to access any of the Bodog brand sites.
Unlike sites like Full Tilt Poker, where millions of US customer dollars are still locked up with slim chances of ever being released, and which went under without any kind of forewarning, Bodog have given their US players a generous advance notice. Bodog have also made it clear that all US funds were safe and secure at the site.

Those who wish to continue playing online poker using their current Bodog Poker accounts may yet have an option to do so. The Morris Mohawk Gaming Group is rumored to launch an operation of its own in 2012, under a Kahnawake Gaming Commission license. US players will apparently be allowed to switch to a new Morris Mohawk Gaming Group brand should they wish to do so.

The decision represents quite a radical move for Bodog. The company is apparently aiming to open a new chapter in its history by maneuvering itself into a position where further growth is possible.
The Morris Mohawk Gaming Group is located in the Mohawk Territory of Kahnawake and it is licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission. As such, it is currently one of a few entities to offer online gaming services to the US public. Until the end of the year, the MMGG is allowed to use the Bodog Brand in the US under an exclusive agreement.
