Daniel Cates Issues Massive Challenge

Daniel Cates has been deprived of the online poker spotlight he had so gotten used to during the last couple of years. He can no longer frolic at Full Tilt Poker and apparently, he’s not one of the new regulars at
PokerStars either. Whether or not he’s lost money to the Black Friday developments is not officially known, one thing seems certain though: he has had enough of the negative publicity poker has seen because of the
Full Tilt Poker problems and the Black Friday indictments. Deprived of the virtual green felt, Cates is now apparently on the warpath to showcase his live poker skills. He has apparently issued a challenge to anyone to take him on in a heads-up
NL Holdem €200/€400 match featuring a minimum buy-in of €100k.
The challenge will take place on December 6 at the Prague Poker Festival, and Cates is indeed ready to take on any and all comers.
The match is scheduled to be streamed online. The online stream will feature a 15 minute delay to exclude any kind of possibility for abuse.
The statement released by Cates with the occasion of his challenge was a rather cocky one to say the least. He said that his love for the game made him think that the world deserved to know who the best poker player was out there, and that in his not-so-humble opinion, he was that player.
Cates had been involved in a similar challenge with Full Tilt poker pro Tom Dwan before the site which hosted their match was dramatically shut down. While Dwan is welcome to take Cates up on his challenge, it is not one specifically directed at him or any other player. Cates said this challenge was not about the past and while he wasn’t looking to wiggle his way out of his Dwan challenge (in which he had a sizeable lead when play was suspended btw), he wanted to offer everyone the opportunity to sit down across the table from him in Prague.
